Taste the Mediterranean flavors of the Greek Archipelagos and learn the grandmother’s traditional secrets of Naxian cuisine
In this Greek cooking lesson in our beautiful village, we try to use only organic and local ingredients and focus on traditional Greek and local Naxian recipes. Only small groups of maximum of 8 guests.
The cooking course takes place either in the morning (starting time 11:00) or in the afternoon (at 17:00).
Your host family welcomes you to their home with traditional sweet preserves and shares their secrets and recipes. You put your kitchen apron on and start cooking the main course which usually is "gemista" (tomatoes and bell peppers stuffed with rice) or "soutzoukakia" (spicy meatballs in fresh tomato sauce).
Next, you make a short visit to the farm to collect some fruits and vegetables. After that, with the goodies you have handpicked, you prepare "kolokythokeftedes" (deep fried zucchini balls), "tzatziki" (dip with yoghurt, garlic, and cucumber), and a greek salad which you enjoy together with the family. For dessert, there is traditional "risogalo" (rice pudding), "moustalevria" (must pudding) and "loukoumades" (fried cakes with honey).
Bon appetite and cheers!
