This easy downhill hike through Tinos takes you through a series of four charming Catholic villages, set amidst lush greenery.
The tour begins in Tarampados village, renowned for the 'Dovecotes Valley', home to some of the island's most intricate and well-preserved dovecotes. As you cross the village, you will be able to admire these architectural gems from a distance. From there, the route leads to Kampos, a picturesque village known for its annual Honey Festival in the summer. If visiting during this time, you may also opt to explore the 'Kostas Tsoklis' modern art museum.
Continuing along one of the island's most beautiful cobblestone alleys, winding through a lush valley, you will descend to Loutra village. Here, you can visit the Ursulines Monastery, once home to a prestigious girls' boarding school with a European reputation. Now functioning as a museum, it houses a fascinating folklife exhibition, open only during the summer months.
The hike continues downhill, alongside a verdant dell, passing the ruins of the medieval village Lazaros, before reaching Perastra. This small village, surrounded by lush vegetation, is nestled along the river that flows through it, offering a serene atmosphere.
Finally, the route concludes in Komi village, one of the largest on the island, located near the fertile Livadi plains, where the famous Tinian artichoke is cultivated. Most of the villagers are farmers, and in spring, Komi hosts the annual Artichoke Festival, celebrating this local delicacy.
This hike is classified as easy, with a total distance of 5.5 kilometers (3.42 miles).
