The tour begins at the stunning sandy beach of Kalandos, situated on the southernmost edge of Naxos. Sheltered from the northerly summer winds (meltemia), this area is the island's southernmost wetland and serves as the first resting and feeding stop for migratory birds traveling from Africa. After a thorough equipment check and safety briefing from your certified guide, you will be all set to embark on your adventure. You will paddle approximately 8 km along Naxos' southern coastline, heading east. The breathtaking view of the neighboring Cycladic islands will accompany you along the way. You will take breaks at small sea coves, where you can swim beneath dramatic, towering cliffs.
As you glide through the tranquil, blue-green waters, you will encounter striking geological formations along the coastline, culminating in the most spectacular of them all, Rina Cave. With its ceiling adorned with delicate stalactites and a nearby secluded beach, it is a true hidden gem.
The untouched beach by Rina Cave is the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the serenity. You will stop there for about 30-40 minutes, giving you time to relax while your guide prepares a selection of delicious local snacks. Whether you choose to simply sit back and enjoy or take a swim to explore the area's vibrant marine life with a snorkel, this is a moment to savor.
Finally, you will hop back into our kayaks for the return journey to Kalandos. To wrap up the experience in the best possible way, you have the option to enjoy a delicious traditional meal at a local taverna (optional), where you can relax and take in the beautiful surroundings.
