Conquer the summit of Mt. Papas in Iraklia and see this piece of paradise from above. The hike starts from the village of Panagia, and the first part of the trail is the most challenging because of the steep slopes.
Under your local guide's direction, you will stop to rest and take beautiful photos. When you reach the top of the mountain, you will be proud of your effort by breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and nearby islands. Even if the sky is clear, the top of Mt. Psiloritis on Crete is visible!
During the hike, your guide will provide a thorough presentation about nature, the history, myths and traditions of Iraklia. If you are lucky, you will meet goats that graze freely in the mountains, rare vultures, and birds of prey.
On your way back, you will walk past the old church of Profitis Ilias and follow the old stone trail that leads back to the village.
