Description

Discover the secret beauties of Amorgos and enjoy the best beaches which are accessible only by boat. Take pictures of the ornament of the island, the monastery of Holy Mary Hozoviotissa.

The grandeur of its view can be seen while aboard standing like a white dove on the steep rocks that stretch down to the sea. Take pictures next to the petrified pirate and swim at the most beautiful beach on the island Chalara where one can get only by boat. All the wildlife of Amorgos (steep rocks, beaches, and unique caves) can be captured there.

You will sail at low speed along the coast of Kastri in the old days, the people that lived in Kato Meria would run to find safety in the castle on seeing the pirate ships. Next, you will sail along the coast of Kato Kabo bay, Patelidi isle and then reach the shipwreck of Amorgos. You will take pictures and then go by Kalotaritissa bay which can be seen on the left and Gramvousa island on your right.

You will then reach Cavo Palo and head back to the South of Amorgos.

You will leave behind isle Kisiri on your left and then reach cape Timoni. You will continue sailing on the south of Amorgos and reach the renowned beach Mouros where you can take pictures and then set sail for Agia Anna bay beneath the monastery.

This location is where the shooting of the movie The Big Blue was shot in 2017 making Amorgos famous worldwide. From the sea cruiser, one can capture the great ornament of the island which is the monastery of Holy Mary Hozoviotissa which stands on the steep rocks of Amorgos like a white dove. There you can also see the isles Mikro and Megalo Viokastro. According to mythology, these isles were pirate ships that Holy Mary turned into rocks when they arrived there to plunder her.

You will then continue to sail on the south side of Amorgos. The steep rocks that reach the sea and sea caves are the wild beauty seen only on the south side. You will sail to Chalara, the very best beach in Amorgos.

There you can see the petrified pirate. According to the myth many years ago, pirates from the east came there to plunder Amorgos and the rich monastery of Holy Mary Hozoviotissa. As they were sailing along the south coast of Amorgos from Cavo Kroukelo towards the monastery, they saw the great beach of Chalara and anchored there to rest.

Later on, we you will embark again to enjoy a delicious traditional meal of Amorgos on deck along with the local organic wine, beer, or ouzo and the seabirds in the air.

You will then sail off at low speed from Chalara along Sparti bay and slowly reach the mines (Metallia) of Amorgos where one can see and capture the caves where bauxite was extracted until 1939, the remains of old buildings as well as the last excavated bauxite which was never loaded.

You will then set off to return to the port of Katapola where your journey ends at approximately 16:30.
